The Downtown Raleigh Alliance (DRA) serves as the administrator of the Downtown Raleigh Municipal Services District (MSD) and also leverages funds through marketing, communications, and promotional campaigns to attract more customers to support the development of the district.
We were first introduced to the Downtown Raleigh Alliance as sponsors of their annual award event in 2017, when we were asked to produce an exciting event kick-off video. Following the success of this partnership, DRA asked us to develop a series of videos to highlight the work this organization does, specifically, the Ambassador Program, Connectivity, and Economic Development.
Our economic development video project was filmed between September 2018 and Spring of 2019. Working alongside DRA’s staff, we developed a concept that would show a compelling story of the DRA’s involvement in helping business thrive in the downtown area. The challenge was to create a video that did not feel stagnant, but was warm and had warmth. We think the final product does just that.
One of the most interesting shots of the video happens at 0:30 seconds in, where a new tenant walks into her empty leased space and invisions it finished. The space is later transformed into a beautiful women’s apparel store. In case you’re wondering how this shot was done, we had to come back a few months after the store was already open and re-shot the same clip. The business owner had to be wearing the same clothes and the camera set-up exactly the same way as we initially shot!
